The tour starts at 08:00 AM with pickup from your hotel in Cairo or Giza by a Tix & Trips Egypt Tours professional guide. Drive approximately 100 km southwest through the desert to Fayoum Oasis. First stop: Wadi El Rayan Protected Area. Wadi El Rayan contains two artificial lakes, the upper and lower lakes, connected by Egypt's only natural waterfall. The waterfall and surrounding wetlands attract thousands of migratory birds in season. Your guide will take you to the best viewpoints for photography of this remarkable oasis landscape. Nearby, visit the Magic Lake (Ain El Siliyin), a series of mineral-rich springs whose waters shimmer in extraordinary turquoise and emerald hues, a surreal and beautiful natural phenomenon. From Wadi El Rayan, drive to Wadi El Hitan (Valley of Whales), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Around 40 million years ago, this desert valley was covered by a shallow sea. Today it contains the world's largest and most accessible concentration of ancient whale fossils (archaeocetes), preserved exactly where they died as they completed their evolutionary journey from land to sea. Over 400 whale fossils have been found here, along with sea turtle, sawfish and shark fossils. On foot with your guide, you will encounter these remarkable skeletal remains emerging from the desert floor, a profound connection to deep geological time. Next, drive to Lake Qarun, one of Egypt's oldest and most beautiful natural lakes, a remnant of a much larger ancient lake system visited since Pharaonic times. The serene shores offer beautiful views and are home to diverse bird species. On the shores of Lake Qarun, visit Qaroun Temple (Qasr Qarun), a remarkably well-preserved Ptolemaic sandstone temple from approximately 250 BC, dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek. Despite its remote location, this small temple retains much of its original carving and decoration. A delicious lunch at a local Fayoum restaurant will be served, featuring fresh Lake Qarun fish, a regional speciality. Your guide will transfer you back to Cairo, arriving approximately 19:00.
